Preferred Destination of Migratory Birds - Santragachi

Santragachi Jheel

Santragachi Jheel(Lake) is one of the favourite destination of migratory birds like Lasser Whistling Duck, Saras Crane, Gadwall, Garganey, Cotton pygmy Goose, Comb duck etc. In winter season December to February birds comes from North America, Australia, North Himalaya, Syberia and many parts of India. This lake is the property of Indian Railway. All local people, West Bengal Forest dept. Railway dept, are looking after in the environment of the  lake, so that it attracts more & more birds. It’s situated adjacent to Santragachi Railway Stn. A junction station in Howrah division, South Eastern Railway.
