Shibpur Botanical Garden situated only 4 k.m away from
Howrah Railway Station. This garden formed in the year 1786 by Colonel Kid of
East India Company, as pleasure retreat. It spread over 272 acres of land with 35000
trees of fruits & flowers. Over 15000 species can be seen here, 65 of
them has foreign origin. The main attraction of this garden is great banyan
tree which is 250 years old and spread over 1.2 hectors area. Boating facility
available in the lake . Also ideal for picnic. This garden well connected with
howrah station and Esplanade by bus, taxi, auto etc. Famous Engineering
institute BESU also adjacent of this famous garden.
