Santragachi Jheel

Santragachi Jheel(Lake) is one of the favourite destination of migratory birds like Lasser Whistling Duck, Saras Crane, Gadwall, Garganey, Cotton pygmy Goose, Comb duck etc. In winter season December to February birds comes from North America, Australia, North Himalaya, Syberia and many parts of India. This lake is the property of Indian Railway. All local people, West Bengal Forest dept. Railway dept, are looking after in the environment of the  lake, so that it attracts more & more birds. It’s situated adjacent to Santragachi Railway Stn. A junction station in Howrah division, South Eastern Railway.

Alipore Zoo is One of the oldest & Largest Zoological garden in Indian Subcontinent. It was established in the year 1876. Situated in Old Alipore, opposite Taj Bengal Hotel, in Belvadare Road. This Zoo containing animals, birds reptiles from all over India & world, starting from Tiger, Leopard, , Zebra, Deer, Crocodile, Lion, Pelican, Royal Bengal Tiger, white Tiger etc. Migratory birds comes every winter inside the lake of this garden. Snake & Reptile are the another attraction of this Zoo. It remain open from 9.00 a.m morning to 17.00 p.m in the evening. Also very well communicated with Sealdah & Howrah Railway Station. Nearest Metro Rail Station is Rabindra Sadan.

Botanical Garden, Shibpur Howrah.

Shibpur Botanical Garden situated only 4 k.m away from Howrah Railway Station. This garden formed in the year 1786 by Colonel Kid of East India Company, as pleasure retreat. It spread over 272 acres of land with 35000 trees of fruits & flowers.  Over 15000 species can be seen here, 65 of them has foreign origin. The main attraction of this garden is great banyan tree which is 250 years old and spread over 1.2 hectors area. Boating facility available in the lake . Also ideal for picnic. This garden well connected with howrah station and Esplanade by bus, taxi, auto etc. Famous Engineering institute BESU also adjacent of this famous garden.
